The End Of An Era
This piece is made from slumped float glass for the CGS post card competition 'Thanks for the Memory' at the British Glass Biennale highlighting the demise of the British Glass Biennale in it's current form, held bi-annually at the Ruskin mill Land Trust in Stourbridge from 2004.
It depicts a glass blower, blown bubble (with the iconic Red Glass Cone and canal of Stourbridge), a glory hole and marver table. Visibility is limited deliberately to show the demise of British Glass as a whole, following a series of closures of glass courses in recent years and the decline of the British Glass industry and exhibitions.
