Dragon bead

2024 is the Chinese year of the wood dragon.

I will model a dragon in wax before casting it in glass using the lost wax method.  

The dragon’s body will be woven tightly around a hair stick to create the bead’s holes. I will also display it on a wooden hair stick to link to the wood dragon.  

I will use transparent Bullseye reactive glass frit with silver shapes dispersed throughout the glass.

When heated, the silver will fume, changing the glass to a gold colour where the two materials touch. 

Chinese dragons are often gold coloured for good fortune.
