Contrasts

This project was part of a joint module based upon Landscapes whereby two different mediums were chosen to produce work from the same research. I chose architectural glass and ceramics (see Ceramics).

This work represents the contrasting shapes, colours, sizes and textures of fields making up the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty of The Lincolnshire Wolds.

I photograph this area on a regular basis on my way to the coast and in 2022 it has been almost unrecognisable as the heatwave has scorched the earth and many of the fields have been bleached to a pale yellow colour by the sun.

Exhibited at Doddington Hall Sculpture 2022, July - September 2022

The wall mounted work below didn't turn out quite as well as I'd hoped. Due to the different glass types, I had to slump individual pieces separately and then glue them onto slumped float glass. It was my hope that some colour would project onto the walls but there was too much light where I displayed it. I may revisit this at a later period and try to improve upon it.
