Invested culture

This artwork asks people to question the historical and cultural values of buildings as opposed to their monetary values and the costs associated with restoring such assets, rather than abandoning them.
The scene depicts the battering storm damage caused to Roker pier and lighthouse in November 2016 and again in October 2023 by Storm Babet.
The pier and lighthouse are core-cast to show a void, representing the loss if the powers that be had chosen to not restore this landmark, as has been the case regarding other nationally important buildings in recent times.

The title is also a play on words referring to a method of casting.
